Weather set to worsen

The spell of bad weather that hit the entire country on Saturday is expected to continue this week, with extreme cold, cloud, rain and snowfall expected in higher altitudes.
 
Rain and snowfall are expected in Macedonia, Thessaly, eastern Central Greece and Peloponnese, as well as in the Sporades, Evia, the Cyclades and Crete.
 
The showers will be stronger in the mountain regions of northern Greece and Epirus.
 
As of Sunday, the sleet will fall in much of the country, while snowfall in northern regions and on high ground will be more intense.
 
Arctic temperatures are expected throughout the week, characterised by snowfall even in lowland areas, even fall in the coastal regions of the eastern Peloponnese and Athens, as well as stormy winds in the Aegean.
 
According to current forecasts, the snowfall in the city of Athens will be light.
 
There is strong chance that the weather conditions will deteriorate even further as of Thursday. (Athens News)
