Olympiakos are keeping up pressure on league leader Panathinaikos with a 2-0 win over Panionios, thanks to headers from Jean Makoun and Diogo.
The Cameroon midfielder put in a powerful header to make it 1-0 in the 41st minute, off a freekick from Jose Holebas, whil Diogo added the second five minutes after the break, as the defending champions remained two points from the top.
"Panionios threw everything behind their defence and hoped to get something in counterattack, so it was difficult to break them down," Olymoiakos manager Ernesto Valverde said, after Sunday's game.
"We got the first goal at a good point in the match, and that made things much easier for us ... What can you say about Makoun? The players love him and he works hard."
Panathinaikos stayed top with an easy 2-0 win at Ergotelis, while third-placed Paok was held 0-0 by Aris in Sunday's Thessalniki derby.
League organizers were involved in a fresh row with government sports officials who postponed the match between AEK Athens and OFI after the Athens club was unable to meet tax obligations for the ticketing of the match, and police warned that fans would try and force their way into the Olympic Stadium.
