Olympiakos have signed former Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll in an 18-month deal, luring him away from Super League minnows OFI.
The 34-year-old Northern Ireland-born Carroll was transferred for an undisclosed sum. "I am very happy to come to such a club," he told the club's website. "It's great honor to come here ... I'll do everything to help Olympiakos reach its goals. I'm looking forward to the games in the Europa League and my return to European competition."
Olympiakos have fallen five points behind main rival Panathinaikos in the title race. They face Rubin Kazan in Moscow for the Round of 32 in the Europa League on February 14.
Carroll had a four-year spell at Man United, mostly in reserve for Fabien Barthez and later Tim Howard. He also played for Premier League clubs West Ham and Derby County, as well as Rangers but spent most of his time in Glasgow on the bench. (Athens News/gw)
