Parliament President Philippos Petsalnikos on Thursday presented the Parliament Foundation silver medal and an honorary diploma to internationally renowned Greek singer Nana Mouschouri. The award was given for her contribution to Greek culture through music, her lengthy and successful international career and for promoting Greece abroad.
Nana Mouskouri, born Ioánna Moúschouri, on October 13, 1934, in Chania, Crete, Greece, is a singer who has sold between 200 and 300 million records worldwide in a career spanning over five decades, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
She has recorded songs in many languages, including Greek, French, English, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Hebrew, Welsh and Maori.
