I want to believe that we all have a life’s dream. I’ll tell you about mine. Suddenly, at the age of 20 while an economics student at the University of Romania, I decided to come live in Greece.
To realise this dream, I trekked through the mountains without any sense of danger. I was with three others. We started off from Romania in February 1996. We made it. Our journey to Athens took five days - it wasn’t easy.
We illegally crossed the border into Greece. At the beginning I worked illegally as a domestic worker in various homes, until one day I took a job caring for the elderly mother of well-known Greek actress Vasia Trifylli.
From that day on, Vasia became my second mother - she was the person who helped me to finish my studies, to learn Greek and to study journalism in Athens. I have been working as a journalist since 2000. I am presently hosting the Romanian language show on Athens International Radio.
I was born in Romania and I grew up in Greece. I have two homelands, just like many others do.
